Impact Identification Methodology
Introduction
The development of significance criteria aims to address all identified impacts in an objective manner and on an equal footing. This is essential to the development of mitigation and monitoring strategies as a project such as this can have a variety of impacts, of varying significance on the environment.
Establishment of Criteria
The procedure for generation of significance criteria began by the project team reviewing similar projects to determine the activities associated with the proposed action and the types of impacts that may result. Particular attention was paid to the activities impact (a combined weighting of the extent, duration, magnitude, intensity) and likelihood. The current environmental context under which the project is being undertaken was then assessed and considered for the generation of the criteria.
Identification Techniques
The identification of impacts was conducted through a combination of assessment of previous similar projects, process flow analysis, consultations and brainstorming. The identification of impacts was achieved by first defining the processes/procedures to used in the development and operation of the facility and any required support infrastructure or services.

- PEOPLE: Medical treatment required.
